Visiting a new church for the first time can be intimidating. We take our worship services very seriously, but making visitors feel welcome is also something we take seriously. We're not going to single you out or ask you to do anything weird. And we don't care whether you dress up or dress down. We'll just be happy to have you visit us. When you visit us, you'll find a greeter at every door who can help you find your way around--or if you want to just blend in and observe anonymously, that's fine too!
Our goal as we gather together to glorify God in Christ Jesus. To glorify God means that to proclaim that God is glorious, and to glorify God in Christ means to proclaim that the glory of God is ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ. So Sunday morning is about proclaiming the gospel message of who Christ is and what He has done for us.
We believe that the whole Bible tells us this message of Christ, so the words of the Bible are central to our worship. The Bible is read in our services, and the goal of every sermon here is to show us the message of a particular passage of the Bible. (Some call this expository preaching.) But the Bible's gospel message is also proclaimed in our singing, in our prayers, in taking the Lord's Supper every week and even in our giving.
In short, everything we do is about Jesus Christ. His gospel is what unites everything we do, and everything we are. We're not all exactly alike here at FCC. We don't all dress the same way on Sunday mornings, we have different musical tastes, we come from different backgrounds--but what unites us all is our trust in Christ our Savior. We're not perfect, but we strive to make Christ the focus of everything we do on Sunday morning and everything we do the rest of the week as well!
